I checked out salming, but the 100cm sticks are snipers blades, which was not recommended by my seniors. The distributors in Singapore are pretty far apart, and is very time consuming to visit them one by one. So my questions are:

1) is there any specialties among the different brands? Eg if a certain brand is renowed for its blade
2) is there a brand which is of more value for money?

a bit of background info: i'm a 22-year-old guy currently studying in singapore. i've been playing in the singapore floorball league's division 1 (this season renamed to the premiership) for the past few years, from when i first picked up floorball. i'm not extremely good, but i can play floorball decently (or so i like to think!)

i will be in scotland for an overseas elective posting for most of the month of may 2011. anybody know of anywhere i can play floorball? obviously since i'm only there for a month, it can't be anything long-term.. i'm just hoping to find a team or some people i can join for training/hit-arounds. this is mainly because this year's premiership season in singapore starts in april, so i'll be playing a few games, then i'm going to miss a month of games while i'm overseas in scotland, and then i'm coming back home for the second half of the season. so i really hope not to lose touch! and of course, also because i really like playing floorball :)

i will be attached to a hospital in glasgow, but at the same period my girlfriend is doing a posting in edinburgh and i plan to meet up with her on weekends anyway, so anywhere around this sort of region would be ideal.

I am once again trying to start up a floorball club in Phoenix, AZ. I have been in contact with some of you in the past regarding my previous attempts to start a club here.

For those of you who have successfully started clubs in other areas around the country, I would love to hear any suggestions you have for generating interest.

Currently the situation is this. I already have all the equipment, sticks, balls, I even made my own goals already. I found a great place to play here in Phoenix on a JR roller hockey rink, that has very reasonable rates ($40 an hour for rental).

The thing that has doomed Phoenix Floorball in the past is a lack of solid committment by players. I have used flyers posted at the local schools, posts on craigslist, and just trying to get my friends interested in playing in the past, but it is still very slow in getting people interested. The problem seems to be that I'll get someone interested but we still dont have enough to play so they kinda lose interest. Then by the time we get enough people together for a game half of them don't show then I'm stuck footing the bill for the majority of the rink time. Plus it makes the actual game less fun when you can't have a full squad out there.

Another issue that I've experienced is a reluctance of players willing to play goal. I'm wondering how other clubs encourage people to go in the net every once in a while. What do other clubs use for goalie equipment (i dont want to spend the money to purchase real floorball goalie equipment until we have a vibrant club)?

Any help you can provide on any angle of getting a club started would be greatly appreciated. And of course if you know anyone in Phoenix that would like to play let me know, and I can get you all the info they will need.

I'll go first ...

My name's Ben, and I've been playing floorball in Toronto for 4 years now. I was introduced to the game by the U of T Floorball Club, which met regularly for scrimmages on weekends, and eventually joined the TFL during its first season. I've played in the TFL every year since, and have taken part in a few nearby tournaments in Ottawa and Montreal. I typically play defense, have zero flash to my game, and score very few goals :)

Aside from all that, I administer these forums, and also built the TFL's 2006-2007 website.

First my knees look pretty bad after training. Swollen and a few places the skins been ripped off. I wear knee pads and everything but this still happens. Any advice?

Secondly what shoes should I wear? Floorball equipment isn't that easy to get hold of here so while I save up for some proper floorball trainers what would be a good (and preferably cheap) alterantive?
