GB Floorball this year, what do you think?
  • notawarenotaware September 2009
Let's get the debate going!! :-D

Who do you think will win your respective league this year?

Who do you think will be GB Champions 09/10?!

What leagues are there this year, I assume it's the usual farce of complete change from the previous year with no input or authority from any governing body.

I would guess the answer for both in my area is London Vikings, when did they last not win a GB tournament that they entered?
  • johanjohan October 2009
Guess there are three senior leagues this year; Northern, South West and South East. Central is on hold this year and may not come back. There are some junior leagues and also a Uni league.

SE league will be interesting with 4 teams having at least 1 line each full of solid players. There will be some interesting matches with Vikings, Crusaders, Sharks & Brighton in the same league.

Can you vote for your own team to win in this thread?

    SE league - Vikings
    Northern - Chapel
SW league - Oxford (if they enter a team), otherwise Bath.
  • BlazeBlaze October 2009
Warwick, Bournemouth and Bath could all win SW if there's no Oxford.
  • notawarenotaware October 2009
In either case, I think it will be a closer league than before. Hopefully all teams will have raised their game this year.

It seems the Shark tifosi have gone quiet?? ;-)

Is Nottingham in SW league? They did really well at HGMO the past weekend.

Yes we're (Vikings) doing well this year. If we get to keep all players away from injury or leaving the country there isn't likely to appear any serious threats this season.

Worth adding is that there have been some really good matches in SE this year thanks to teams like Crusaders, Sharks and Brighton which have pretty good teams. Basingstoke would probably give the top teams teams in SW a good match.

It's looking like a 3 way tie now as Edinburgh are looking very, very strong........:)

Pretty sure Vikings will take the South East honours and Bath for the South West.

and yesterday we lost to crusaders. crusaders now favourites for the SE league title. hmm.....
  • probie21probie21 February 2010
where would be the best place to find up to date scores from the SE ect
  • GraemeGraeme February 2010
I think the best place is http://www.gbfua.org.uk/. As far as I know there are no websites or forums for the other GB Leagues.
  • hluravenhluraven February 2010
http://www.floorballleague.co.uk/southeast/?homepage,1 is the homepage specifically for the southeast league, but I think it is part of the GBFUA site. It hasn't been updated for a couple of tournaments now either.

I try and be little bit quicker on the ball, but as the SEL is played at two venues in parallel the table tends to limp for a few days until I know what happend at the other venue.

The missing results from Sunday might shuffle a couple teams around, but the top five and bottom five will stay the same.

Anybody have some of the missing scores?

Interesting Johan, you guys were looking sharp at training, what happened? Few people missing or are Crusaders just that good this season?

I hear Jamie wanted to score for once so put it in his own net ;)

It was a really close game which could have gone either way, but Crusaders when they get their best squad out are an extremely talented squad and were very good on the day.

No it wasn't, Crusaders were ahead most of the game. I think they were at most three goals ahead.

Maybe not, but it was the first thing Jamie told me when I asked how they did, after he said that they had lost.

Typical Vikings syndrome combined with a strong (defensively mainly), well prepared and motivated Crusaders squad. They got some easy goals in the beginning of the match (due to what I call the Vikings syndrome). We had a complete lack of focus from the start which triggered too many individual mistakes. From attitude and fighting spirit Crusaders deserved the win. Other than that we did dominate a majority of the game in particular from half way through second period.

I got this match on video and having gone through it I can't believe we lost. That said we do need to turn up the focus a few levels now as the competition is getting better for each match played.

End of season and Nationals will be exciting!

Makes for a more eventful season I guess, looks like it could well be hot and heated at both event's and judging by the Crusaders side we played at GB Training I am not suprised you found it tough.................

You sure did! ..... and we could not believe it when the final whistle went off. As i said after the match, 5 more minutes and you would have had us, but this time, we were the lucky ones.

So thanx again for the good game.

There were a few more interesting results in the last couple of rounds, so the final table before the split is here:

    http://www.cambridge-floorball.org.uk/tournaments.shtml

The League table on the SE League webpage is incorrect as we've only got 15 points in that one!
