Attached please find the TFL Elite Awards Ballot. Please get your votes in before the deadline of FRIDAY, MAY 30th at NOON. Only Elite players can vote but everyone in the floorball world can weigh in on who should win what...
By the way, TNEX GM Brett Stein was kind enough to include reasoning behind each of his nominees which unfortunately did not fit the form. But I am posting it here for anyone that is interested--
MVP: Randy - Leads the league in scoring, PPG and assists (including setting the record for assists in a season with 49) and does it all in 19 games! Not only can he score from anywhere with a sweepshot or a smooth deke, his highlight passes make him almost impossible to defend. TNX is 17-2 with him in the lineup. The multiple time MVP and Scoring champ still plays both ends of the court like nobody else!
Goalie: Swanee - Set the TFL league record with 17 wins despite facing more shots than any goalie!! Leads the league by a wide margin in Save Percent and number of saves! 4-0 in shootouts, his combination of attitude and ability make him a clear choice for best goalie.
Defenseman: Scott - The anchor of the TNX defense, he plays the best two way game of any defender in the TFL. Deceptively fast, he routinely wins loose balls with quickness and smooth stick skills. His physicality makes him tough to play against and his soft hands and dangerous wrist shot kept him at a goal/game from the blueline.
Rookie: Umesh - The definition of a rookie. Just turning 13 as the season began, Umesh had never played floorball in a league and took the TFL by storm! With slick moves nobody could teach, he managed a point/game and played stelar defense while getting adjusted to the pace of playing against adults. He peaked by the end of the year with 7 pts in the final 5 games including scoring a hat-trick!
Most Improved from Last Year: Eli - Previous to this year, Eli had a total of only 16 points in 2 seasons. This year, the goalie turned forward was a tower of strength on a team starved for Offence. With Ciros/iMove, Eli had 18 goals in 13 games and was only held pointless once. His furious pace continued after a trade to TNX, netting 8 goals in just 5 games after the move. He finished the season in the top 10 goals scorers in the TFL.
Leader: Brett - The 3 time Best GM/Leader award winner, stepped back into the limelight this year by protecting all his TNX players after a tough season last year. The move paid off as TNX went 17-3 to set the TFL record for wins! He swaped Os and a half year import for incomperable Goalie Swanee. Taking a chance on a 12 year old Umesh paid immediate dividends as he continues to blossom into one of the leagues future stars. A steal of a trade for Eli and strong draft picks in both Scott and Andre made the team complete and without weakness. Emotional and stratigic both on and off the court, he is the unquestioned leader of a strong TNX team.
Ref Pair: Brett & Linda - Hope you liked them. Their effort and knowledge of the rules is peerless in the TFL as is their dedication to the league.
Most Sportsmanlike...
Andre Riolo, Andre has willingly been moved around all season from offence to defence and back again. He plays the game at a high level, weaving, and deking around opponents and smiling the whole time. Mr. Layed Back finished the season with 0 PIM, and is always quick to congratulate the the other team regardless of the outcome of a game.
Nice work--thank you for sharing- Thanks so much for this. I appreciate the effort. It really helps a lot. Glad to hear you're using this: I plan to keep it much more aggressively up-to-date than has been the case in the past, but don't hesitate to let me know if you find errors or need clarifications.
Now that the regular season is over I thought Id put down my thoughts for the season end awards. I picked Chaldors 3B Ashley Garcia for League MVP. Sarnia RHP Jim Covington for Rookie of the Year. Fitchburg RHP Joseph Raley for Cy Young.
