New to Floorball

    Hey guys!
On Thursday I'm going to my first night of Floorball. I'm being put on a development squad (obviously) but I'm just wondering what I should expect? I played Hockey a little bit in school, but other than that I don't really have a history of playing team sports.

So, yeah. What should I expect? What should I wear? And, for future reference, what kind of equipment should I get?

    Thanks :)

For what you should wear, comfortable shoes for running, including a lot of turning. Trainers/Gym shoes should do fine, not big heavy walking shoes. You can wear either shorts or trousers, again comfortable ones for running are best. Likewise, a t-shirt or a sports top is fine.

For buying equipment in the future, try several sticks (the more the better) until you find one that you are comfortable with. There are lots of different options but see if your club has spares or borrow teammates until something feels right. It depends on your height for length of the shaft, and what position/style you have for how stiff/straight the blade is.

What you should expect. Good fun, it will be quicker than hockey (assuming field hockey?) with lots of quick action but substitutions allowed all the time so you get a breather. If you meant ice hockey, then very similar in lots of ways but limited body contact and no stick contact at all or it is a foul.

Where are you playing, and good luck!
