a bit of background info: i'm a 22-year-old guy currently studying in singapore. i've been playing in the singapore floorball league's division 1 (this season renamed to the premiership) for the past few years, from when i first picked up floorball. i'm not extremely good, but i can play floorball decently (or so i like to think!)
i will be in scotland for an overseas elective posting for most of the month of may 2011. anybody know of anywhere i can play floorball? obviously since i'm only there for a month, it can't be anything long-term.. i'm just hoping to find a team or some people i can join for training/hit-arounds. this is mainly because this year's premiership season in singapore starts in april, so i'll be playing a few games, then i'm going to miss a month of games while i'm overseas in scotland, and then i'm coming back home for the second half of the season. so i really hope not to lose touch! and of course, also because i really like playing floorball :)
i will be attached to a hospital in glasgow, but at the same period my girlfriend is doing a posting in edinburgh and i plan to meet up with her on weekends anyway, so anywhere around this sort of region would be ideal.
any information/recommendations would be very much appreciated! thanks!
your more than welcome to come and play with us down in Ayr, about 40 minutes from Glasgow. Either check the Ayr Raiders facebook page or pm me for more info.
Hi! I moved to Glasgow about six months ago and used to play floorball when I was younger. I am originally from Sweden where floorball is everywhere! Anyways, was wondering about the club in Ayr, is everyone welcome there? I haven't really played for about 4-5 years and I think my skills are a bit rusty but I miss it so much that I'd love to start playing again. I know the summer is soon here which might not be floorball season but might as well ask now in case I'm welcome in the fall.
hi! ayr is about 40 mins down the road, balwearie is in fife and we train on sundays right up to the end of june if you want to come over for some practise your more than welcome google us , i would like to speak to you as i would like to get a team going in glasgow
Hi guys. sorry been so long, computer issues. Anyway, we are still playing over the summer, only on wednesday nights at the moment 8.00pm at Whitletts Activity Centre in Ayr. Anyone who wants to come and play with us is more than welcome, wouldn't worry to much about your skill level as we have a complete mix of abilities from absolute beginners upwards.
Thought I'd bump this since I'm studying in Glasgow and interested. I was a goalkeeper up in Aberdeen for a few months before I moved to Glasgow in 2009, and I still have the all of the equipment. Surely in a city the size of Glasgow there must be some interest?
You would think so but no. Tried to get a team going up in Glasgow a few years back but never worked out. You are more than welcome to come play with us down in Ayr, 1 or 2 players do travel down from Glasgow.
We train wednesdays from 8 to 9.15 and sundays 6 to 7 at whitletts activity centre. anyone coming down from Glasgow can train for free to help offset the extra costs of trains etc.
Sounds good. I should be able to collect my goalie kit in a couple of weeks if I go home, and then maybe after then I'll come and train. Do you need an extra goalie? And I'll be a bit rusty, since I haven't played in about 2 and a half years now haha.
It would be a bit of a walk from the station to Whitletts. Don't know how the other people from Glasgow get there to be honest. Hopefully they will be there tonight and I can find out. If you let me know when you're planning on coming down I should be able to arrange a lift from the station.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. I've been really busy with work lately and I hurt my finger so I haven't really thought about floorball lately. I'm collecting my floorball kit this weekend so the soonest I'd be able to play is next Wednesday. I believe it's 7.45 - 9pm now? A lift would be really great if that's possible, although I don't want to be a bother so I'd be more than willing to try and find my own way if I had to,
